In Virginia, real estate Salesmen are required to complete at least 16 hours of Continuing Education every two years in order to maintain their license.  Brokers are required to complete 24 hours (as of July 1, 2008).  In addition, each licensee must complete a 2 hour course on Limited Service Brokerage.  (DPOR also maintains information about licensees in other professions.)

These education credits are posted for the public.  Look in particular at the license expiration date which is two years after the last license renewal.  Since each two year cycle's credits are cleared on renewal you can't see anything about activity history in previous license periods, but you can get an idea of how fast the licensee is accumulating credits in the current cycle.
